Raley’s Freeport

A Modern Grocery Store Operated by a Venerable Local Grocer

“The Park” Retail Center project (Project) consists of the construction and operation of an approximately 108,165-square-foot retail center anchored by Raley’s new flagship grocery located on an approximately 10-acre site within the Land Park Community Plan Area in the City of Sacramento, California. To comply with CEQA, the City prepared an EIR to analyze the environmental impacts of the Project. Thereafter, the City Council unanimously approved the Project in late 2016.

A few adjacent residents filed a lawsuit alleging that the EIR failed to fully evaluate the environmental impacts of the Project. The lawsuit ultimately settled and Raley’s flagship grocery store opened in early 2020.

Tina Thomas and Chris Butcher of Thomas Law Group represented the applicant throughout the administrative and appellant process.
